Mammea Americana originating from Cuba is a handsome open tree with a thick central trunk and a few large limbs.  The ripe Mamey is unique and is described as having apricot notes and a touch of sweet potato and persimmon and a hint of nuts and spices. Its coloring ranges from yellow to orange.

The mamey is egg shaped with brownish skin and reddish on the inside when mature.

Mamey is considered one of the heart healthy fruits, and an excellent source of dietary fiber.
