Coconut
The coconut first cultivated on islands in Southeast Asia. The coconut tree is a member of the palm tree family and the only known living species of the genus cocos. Most of the world’s coconuts are produced on small native plantations. Trees grown in proper conditions produce 50 coconuts a year, it takes about a year for the coconut to ripen.
Coconuts are oval shaped with pale green outer husk and a have a hard inner shell. They grow up to 12”in length. Coconuts are high in manganese, which is essential for bone health. They are rich in copper and iron which help red blood cells.
